About the place
Puerto Plata is where lush tropical mountains meet the sparkling Atlantic coast. Towering peaks like Isabel de Torres rise above the city, draped in dense rainforest, while rivers and waterfalls carve their way through wild, untouched jungle. Rich in biodiversity and vibrant greenery, this region is a true paradise for nature lovers.

Itinerary

We begin our day with a scenic drive up Puerto Plata’s local mountain, Isabel de Torres, rising to around 780 meters. At the top, we take in breathtaking panoramic views over the city of Puerto Plata and the vast Atlantic coastline. A leisurely walk then leads us through the botanical garden, where you can admire the rich diversity of tropical rainforest plants.

Our journey continues through stunning mountain landscapes until we reach the jungle river Río Sonador. Its natural beauty is truly captivating. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim beneath a cascading waterfall, surrounded by wild, untouched nature.

Next, we savor a delicious, traditional Dominican lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we visit Taino Valley Nature Park. During a guided tour, you’ll discover native wildlife and explore the fascinating variety of plants that thrive in this tropical environment. You’ll also learn about the indigenous people of the Dominican Republic—the Taínos—their culture, way of life, and the gods they once worshipped. To round off the experience, you’ll get to taste a wide variety of local fruits, as well as freshly grown and locally produced coffee.

After a day fully immersed in the stunning natural beauty of Puerto Plata, we return home with unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
